Toddlers

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables the child attains her/his full potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

-Dept of Education, UK., Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage

The Toddlers early childhood program is adopted based on well researched and acclaimed practises advocated by EYFS, U.K and Waldorf programs.  EYFS, UK’s child-centred pedagogy prioritises play-based learning and mixing staff and child-initiated activities. The program provides a foundation that nurtures the body, mind, and soul of the growing child. Through creating a healthy program – based on imaginative play, artistic activity, simple crafts, language, verse, song, puppetry, fairy tales, and storytelling, the school fosters the development of the whole child: physically, emotionally, intellectually, culturally, and spiritually.

The curriculum is structured and integrated with guided play with set learning outcomes that make children partake in, and initiate activities that awaken their imagination and develop fine and gross motor skills, which will later grow into emotional and academic capacities. The subjects are carefully selected to provide practical knowledge and creativity.

Being a Waldorf inspired school, the arts are an integral part of the curriculum. All toddlers learn to colour and draw, and to work with clay as they progress. They also learn to sing, talk, play, dance, jump and run over a period of time. Child’s proprioceptive system and cognitive skills are assessed and recorded on weekly basis.

TBPSB’s toddler’s classroom is a caring place with very experienced teachers and carers who strive to encourage children to be true to themselves and their heritage. Teachers bring interest and enthusiasm to the classroom.

Overall, the Curriculum and Pedagogy is ensured to be holistic, integrated, enjoyable, and engaging.  The learning in this class shall be primarily play-based learning with a focus on developing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities coupled with early literacy and numeracy.
