Science

“Science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated.”

– Rosalind Franklin

The study of science is about finding out how the world works. Foundation is laid by teaching in topics pertaining to scientific enquiry, life sciences, physical science, earth science, etc.  Science fosters critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, collaboration and communication.

Every day experiences provide children many opportunities to

  • Ask questions
  • Make sense of what they observe
  • Build a coherent understanding of the world around them

The science of motivation tells us that the key to learning long term and retaining material is personal relevancy. A child that sees and feels the “why” behind a lesson is naturally more interested and inspired to learn. Children are more naturally inquisitive than scientists and try to make sense of the world. TBPSB believes it’s never too early to start practicing basic science skills like observation, prediction, and using evidence to support answers. Preschool is also a great time to begin learning about scientific content like weather, energy, ecosystems, plants, animals, motion, stability and life cycles.

At TBPSB, apart from maths, emphasis is also given towards teaching of science by exposing child to numerous experiments and approaches to the material with the understanding that all or some these methods will resonate, spark curiosity and inspire interest.
